The Caro Downtown Development Authority and the Village of Caro are proud to announce that Caro has been selected as a Michigan Downtown Blueprint Community by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority’s (MSHDA) Cool Cities Blueprints for Michigan’s Downtowns Community Assistance Team.
Through the Blueprints for Downtowns program, Caro will receive a comprehensive, market-driven strategy toward developing an action-oriented downtown that will result in economic growth, job creation and private investments in our community.

The Objective
The prime objective is to develop an action strategy that will, over a five-year period of implementation time, move forward our community's traditional downtown toward economic enhancement. Measurable results that will be tracked include the creation of new private jobs and private investment in the downtown.
Through involving all businesses and residents, we expect to develop a stronger bond within our community that will result in better service and selection for the citizens of the Caro area. A vibrant downtown will help all parts of the Village including businesses outside the downtown area.
We also expect to use this process to pull together the entire community toward the goal of making Caro an even greater place to shop, live, work and play.

The process of the Blueprints program will be highly inclusive, will take approximately five months to complete, and will result in the issuance of an action strategy.
It includes a 20+ member Local Process Committee who will:
Gather data,
Do business surveys
Do resident surveys
Arrange for:
Customer, business & organization focus group interviews
A Community Vision Session

From now until April 21, 2008, Caro along with HyettPalma will be collecting data, doing resident and business surveys, doing building inventories, planning for focus group interviews, and planning for a Community Vision Session.
April 22-25, 2008, HyettPalma will be in Caro to visit the community, conduct the focus group sessions and get input from the Community Vision Session. (Note: The Community Vision Session will be April 22, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. at the TACA Building at 102 Joy Street in Caro.
On May 12, 2008, HyettPalma will make a public presentation to unveil their recommendations and the final Downtown Blueprints document will be presented.
